1. Information We Collect
When you create an account or list a product on IITK Buy&Sell, we collect:
Account Info: Your name and email address (via Google Sign-In).
Profile Info: Username, phone number, and hostel/hall location that you provide.
Listing Data: Product title, description, price, images, and other details you submit.
2. How We Use Your Information
Your information is used solely to:
Display your listings to other campus users.
Enable buyers to contact you (via the phone number you provide).
Authenticate your identity and protect your account.
3. Data Storage & Security
All data is stored securely on Google Firebase (Firestore & Firebase Storage).
We do not use any third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising services.
We do not sell, share, or transfer your personal data to any third parties.
All connections are encrypted via HTTPS/SSL.
4. Data You Share Publicly
When you post a listing, the following is visible to all users: product details, your username, hostel location, and phone number (for WhatsApp contact). Please only share information you are comfortable making public.
5. Data Retention
Active listings remain until you delete them.
Sold items are automatically removed after 2 days.
You can delete your listings at any time.
6. Your Rights
You may request deletion of your account data at any time by contacting us at dhawalmpillai09@gmail.com.
